Magnús Ingi will be the director of KLAK VMS

Magnús Ingi Óskarsson, entrepreneur and mentor, takes over as director of KLAK's mentoring service, which has been named KLAK Venture Mentoring Service. The KLAK Mentoring Service will be the official sister program of the MIT Venture Mentoring Service, and the KLAK staff together with Magnús Inga have received training at MIT, in addition to the representatives of the MIT VMS will hold workshops in Iceland in February.

Magnús Ingi Óskarsson is the co-founder of the startup Calidris. Calidris developed software for airlines that improved their operations, increased flexibility and revenue. Calidris was sold to the American company Saber in 2010, at which time around 40 people worked at the start-up company, while Saber is one of the world's largest software companies for airlines and tourism. Previously, Magnús managed Icelandair's revenue management for five years and was managing director at OZ for one year.

"It is extremely valuable for startups, both those who are taking their first steps and those who are more advanced, to receive guidance from experienced mentors who are willing to share their experience and relationships to quickly move the startup forward.

I look forward to working with these great people in the business world who are willing to give their time and energy to help the wands move forward. My mission is to create a happy and fruitful platform where shoots get a lot of value and mentors get a lot of pleasure. The collaboration with the MIT Venture Mentoring Service takes this activity of ours to another and higher level.

It is very exciting for me as an innovation enthusiast to be able to put my weight on the scales of most of the most interesting startups in the country that go through the accelerator at KLAK or the Dafna project that the beneficiaries of the Technology Development Fund participate in. You can hardly imagine a more enjoyable job in the Icelandic startup scene.” says Magnús Ingi Óskarsson.

Magnús Ingi has a B.Sc. in computer science from the University of Iceland and M.Sc. from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. Magnús later completed an MBA degree from the IMD Business School in Switzerland. Magnús Ingi is on the advisory board of Eyris Ventures and in recent years he has been a key mentor to various sports companies in Gróska and the right hand of KLAK - Icelandic Startups.

"We had a unique opportunity to learn how to build a mentoring service modeled after the MIT Venture Mentoring Service in Boston. Now I'm taking on a challenging project to build up KLAK's mentoring service and I'm very happy to have Magnús Inga in this project with us, but I've seen first hand what kind of magician he is when it comes to consulting for start-up companies.” is said by Kristína Soffíu Jónsdóttir, manager of KLAK – Icelandic Startups.
