Sigga Dögg and Sævar from Better Sex won the Golden Egg

Iceland's largest and oldest entrepreneurial competition, Gulleggið, was held recently in Gróska's festival hall, where the Top 10 ideas competed for Gulleggið 2023. The tense atmosphere did not hide itself when the results were announced. The top three places and the most popular contestant according to the public were announced. 

Sigga Dögg and Sævar Eyjólfsson in Better Sex won the Golden Leg 2023, but they introduced the idea of Better Sex, which is a streaming service for adults with professional and fun information about sex. Ólafur M. Magnússon from Landsbankinan awarded the team a grand prize of ISK 1 million. Salóme Bregt Hollanders, designer presented Sigga Dögg and Sævar Eyjólfsson with a medal that she designed especially for Gulleggið 2023.


Soultech came second, but the team consists of Davíð Haraldsson, Stefán Ólafsson, Bryndís Jóhannsdóttir, Pétra Erni Jónsson and HrefnaLíf Ólafsdóttir. SoulTech develops a digital environment that facilitates all psychotherapy work.

Third place went to the duo Þórey Rúnarsdóttir and Marta Schluneger for the concept StitchHero. The concept will overturn the way creative knitters knit by empowering them to design and create garments of their own accord. Design software with a user-friendly interface that transforms designs into usable knitting patterns.


Bergur Ebbi opened the competition to great joy and excitement in a live broadcast from Gróska's festival hall. Gullegg's sponsors, judges, other invited guests and the public who watched the live broadcast all over the country listened intently to the ideas of all the contestants, and the atmosphere was tense when the results of the top three places were announced.


The public gets to vote for the most popular Gullegg team, and this year the duo from Pelliscol, Írisar Bjarkar Marteinsdóttir and Ívar Erni Marteinssonar from Sauðárkrók. Pelliscol plans to develop and launch Spa skin care products based on Icelandic collagen and thus bring the collagen closer to the skin. 

Harpa Hjartardóttir, who introduced the idea Snux, received a gift from Vérdi tyringum, and the duo in EZZE, Donna Cruz and Þóra Ólafsdóttir, received a special gift from Gróska ídaðahús. The soap train that Alda Leifsdóttir & Elísabet Halldórsdóttir have the idea for received a special recognition for a good idea from Marel. 


In the first phase of the Gullegg's participation process, 374 people registered, and of those, 101 teams submitted an idea presentation for the second phase of the competition. The Gullegg's review group, which includes around 70 experienced people from the business world and innovation trendsetters, subsequently selected 10 teams that competed for the Gullegg 2023 on February 10 in Gróska's festival hall.


The main sponsor of Gullegg 2023 is Landsbankinn, which has been involved in the project from the beginning, but other sponsors include Controlant, Origo, HVIN, Reykjavíkurborg, Hugverkastofa, Advania, Marel, Eyrir Invest, Íslandstofa, Téknisendeväðirsjöðurinn, Crowberry capital, KPMG, Ölgerðin, Brunnur, Kvika eignastilður , Gróska, Frumtak ventures, Vörður as well as the University of Reykjavík, the University of Akureyri and the University of Iceland.
