Hringi\u00f0a opens for applications today, January 20, where start-ups and innovative projects of companies and institutions based on the concept of the circular economy are encouraged to apply, but the application deadline is until February 19.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Hringi\u00f0a focuses on a circular economy, where new technologies and methods are highlighted, promoted and supported, which really solve the environmental problems at hand. The business accelerator is based on an international model with a clear approach to the European grant application process.

Sidewind is one of the start-up companies that participated in Hringi\u00f0a 2022, but the entrepreneurs and founders, Mar\u00eda Krist\u00edn \u00derastard\u00f3ttir and \u00d3skar Svavarsson, received a European grant for an energy exchange project led by Verk\u00eds. The project is intended to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the world's shipping fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end of the accelerator, the participants will be able to apply for European grants, among others, in the LIFE program based on the concept of the circular economy. LIFE is one of the EU cooperation programs that has financed projects in the field of climate and environment since 1992. The LIFE program plays an important role in achieving in the coming years the necessary transformation to a cleaner, energy-efficient and carbon-neutral society in the spirit of the circular economy.\u00a0

The business accelerator is based on an international model and offers an ambitious platform and good preparation for applications in European grants. The focus of the accelerator is structured meetings of participants with experienced entrepreneurs, investors and other experts. This is a proven process where start-ups are given access to a wide network of mentors from the business world and targeted training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The accelerator is managed by KLAK, which for many years has provided assistance in the development of business ideas and brought together a group of stakeholders with value creation as a guiding principle. The sponsors are the City of Reykjav\u00edk, the Ministry of the Environment, Energy and Climate, Orkuveita Reykjav\u00edkur, Faxafl\u00f3ahafnir, Terra, \u00d6lger\u00f0in and the Industry Association. Hringi\u00f0a's partners are Rann\u00eds, Brei\u00f0 vej\u00f0urf\u00e9lag, Evris, Sj\u00e1varklassinn and Gr\u00e6nvangur.
