Executive Director of Orkuklass, Rósbjörg Jónsdóttir

"It is a real pleasure for us to be in the group of Hringiða's powerful partners. It is important to look at energy-related issues and developments when looking at the development of the circular economy. We look forward to the collaboration and to seeing new and improved solutions that help us all turn the linear economy into a powerful and effective cycle."

Orkuklasinn represents the energy sector in Iceland and is a cooperation platform for many parties working in the field of energy industry and related industries.

Hringiða is based on an international model and offers an ambitious platform and good preparation for applications for European grants. The focus of the accelerator is structured meetings of participants with experienced entrepreneurs, investors and other experts. This is a proven process where start-ups are given access to a wide network of mentors from the business world and targeted training.

The accelerator is managed by KLAK, which for many years has provided assistance in the development of business ideas and brought together a group of stakeholders with value creation as a guiding principle. The sponsors are the City of Reykjavík, the Ministry of the Environment, Energy and Climate, Orkuveita Reykjavíkur, Faxaflóahafnir, Terra, Ölgerðin and the Industry Association. Hringiða's partners are Rannís, Breið vejðurfélag, Evris, Sjávarklassinn and Grænvangur.

Hringiða will be run for the third time this year, but the start-ups that have gone through the accelerator are Snerpa Power, e1, Sidewind, but the former received the UT start 2022. The application deadline for Hringiða 2023 is until February 19. Applications are accepted here.
