On December 17, KLAK – Icelandic Startups held a special event dedicated to Gulleggin, the country's largest startup competition. The event was two-part, reflecting on the history of the competition, which dates back to 2008, and introducing a new prize.
A new trophy, designed by Héðinn hf, the sponsor of the competition, using the Gulleggi logo, was formally presented and presented to all companies that have won the competition over the past 17 years and are still in operation. This trophy honours their contributions and achievements over time, and attendees were given the opportunity to watch as the prizes were presented to previous winners.
A special honorary award was also presented, the aim of which is to highlight that entrepreneurship is not only about winning the competition, but also about laying the foundation for future projects and overcoming challenges. The company Taktikal received an honorary award this time, and took Valur Þór Gunnarsson, co-founder of Taktikal, accepting the award on behalf of the company.
KLAK-Icelandic Startups focuses on nurturing Icelandic entrepreneurs and encourages everyone who is interested in participating in the Golden Egg to seize the opportunity and make their dreams come true.
Much development has taken place at Gulleggin over the years, including the Gulleggin Idea Race and the Gulleggin Masterclass, both of which are designed to help individuals see that everyone can become an entrepreneur and that their knowledge is valuable and could one day change the world.
