The Energy Authority has now partnered with KLAK – Icelandic Startups to become one of the sponsors of the business accelerator Hringiðu. Hringiðu’s goal is to promote innovation for the benefit of the circular economy, create valuable solutions and strengthen environmental and climate action. The project aims to promote the development of new technologies that solve real environmental challenges and to make Iceland a leading force in these issues on the international stage.
The strength of Orkuveitanu lies in its knowledge of the innovation process, from the establishment of the district heating company to modern solutions such as Carbfix, which have made a splash on the international stage. This experience underlines Orkuveitanu's policy that innovation is the foundation of sustainable development. "Supporting projects like Hringiðu fits perfectly with our policy of being at the forefront of sustainability and innovation. With our participation, we contribute both capital and expertise that strengthens the project's vision," says Sævar Freyr Þráinsson, CEO of Orkuveitanu.
The cooperation agreement with Hringiða is for one year and strengthens Orkuveita's continued focus on developing solutions that promote energy transition and environmental protection, with the goal of creating a profitable future and knowledge-driven exports.
