The Gulleggsinn Idea Race took place the weekend of January 4–5, 2025 in Gróska, where university students from all over the country came together to develop innovative ideas and solve challenges from several Gulleggsinn sponsors. The first weekend of the year proved that young people are ready for the challenges of the new year, as participants arrived full of energy and creativity to tackle challenging tasks.

Number of good ideas
The winner of the Idea Sprint was the team Mutual reference, which developed a website that bridges the gap between science and society. The solution uses artificial intelligence to make scientific data more accessible and user-friendly, facilitating informed decision-making and increasing the visibility of research.
Special awards were given to Redness and The Energy Cat.

- Redness introduced a solution that extends the life of home appliances by connecting consumers, technicians and electronics stores through a smart system. The solution helps consumers find repairers in a cost-effective and environmentally friendly way.
- The Energy Cat developed an idea for a smart app that monitors energy consumption and sends reminders, as well as creating incentives for consumers to distribute electrical loads and thus improve energy efficiency.

The Gulleggisn idea sprint is part of the preparation for Gulleggið, the country's largest entrepreneurship competition, to be held on February 14, 2025 in Gróska. The event marked a powerful start to a year of innovation as young people demonstrated their inexhaustible creativity and ambition to shape the future of Icelandic business.
Gulleggið, the country's largest entrepreneurship competition, has been run by KLAK-Icelandic Startups since 2008 and is held at the beginning of each year. The competition is specifically designed for innovation at the idea stage and is open to everyone, both idea creators and innovation enthusiasts who want to make a difference.
