Two Icelandic companies selected for business accelerator in Kísildalur

Startups dala.care and uiData were selected from a large group of Nordic applicants to participate in the TINC business accelerator hosted by Innovation Norway Silicon Valley in collaboration with Vinnova in Sweden, Business Finland and KLAK-Icelandic Startups.

TINC is a 6-week hybrid business accelerator that takes place partly online and also in a dedicated program in Silicon Valley, California. The accelerator aims to strengthen participants' products and business models and increase their competitiveness on a global scale in one of the most fertile startup environments in the world.

Icelandic health technology company dala.care aims to transform the way people experience home care. A custom-designed app helps individuals in need of home care live more fulfilling lives by simplifying the management of home care. Caregivers, families, and care recipients are connected through a shared platform that allows everyone to stay informed, coordinate actions more effectively, and provide the best support for loved ones.

uiData produces the DataCentral software that enables companies and organizations to securely distribute reports and datasets to third parties. In addition to simplifying data sharing, DataCentral includes a variety of additional features such as artificial intelligence and a cost-effective way to create company "my pages" among other features.

Nathan Gold, a performance coach for Ted Talks, Shark Tank and others, teaches at the TINC accelerator alongside Finn Magnússon from dala.care, Bjarki Elías Kristjánsson, CEO and co-founder of uiData, and Ingólfur Þorsteinsson, co-owner of uiData.

KLAK-Icelandic startups has for years mediated the participation of Icelandic companies in the TINC accelerator by nominating Icelandic startups that have excelled with solutions that are likely to reach international heights. Icelandic companies that have gone through the accelerator include 50skills, Hopp, PLAIO and Sportabler.

Freyr Friðfinnsson, project manager and international representative of KLAK Icelandic Startups, says it is encouraging to see how Icelandic companies that are given this opportunity have flourished:

"An important part of building a world-class startup environment in Iceland is that entrepreneurs in this country have the opportunity to go out and learn from the best in Silicon Valley and then bring their experience back to the country. Then they can pass on the knowledge and the startup environment grows with them. For example, we Icelanders can learn a lot from Americans regarding sales, but TINC has mentors who have a lot of experience in sales, so it's a great help to participate."
