Huawei sponsors Startup SuperNova 2023

Ásta Sóllilja Guðmundsdóttir, managing director of KLAK-Icelandic Startups, Beatriz Garcia Martinez, communications specialist at Huawei and Þuríður Björg Guðnadóttir, managing director of Nova Experience.

Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei enters as a new sponsor of Startup Supernova this year.

Startup SuperNova is a joint project between Klak - Icelandic Startups and Nova, which has been a sponsor of the accelerator since the beginning, but the accelerator is now being run for the fourth time. Startup SuperNova's goal is to build business solutions for the international market and make them investable.

Huawei has previously participated in Startup SuperNova, but in 2021 the company paid a place for one startup in the accelerator.

The telecommunications and telephone company Huawei was founded in 1987 and is one of the largest telecommunications companies in the world.

"The opportunities available to Icelandic start-ups and innovative companies are enormous, but that's exactly why we decided to come to Startup SuperNova this year. We hope that our knowledge and experience will be useful to the participants, and we look forward to passing ideas on to international markets," says Beatriz Garcia Martinez, communication specialist at Huawei.

The Startup SuperNova project, which is managed by KLAK Icelandic Startups, begins with a Masterclass course on the 22nd-23rd. June where startups will receive training and guidance in preparing an eighteen-month action plan for their projects. Those startups who participate in the Masterclass can then apply to participate in the business accelerator itself.

"It is a great pleasure for KLAK to work with such strong partners. Nova has been a loyal supporter of Startup Supernova since the accelerator was founded in 2020, and it is a pleasure to bring in another powerful player like Huawei as a backer." says Ásta Sóllilja Guðmundsdóttir, manager of KLAK-Icelandic Startups.
