The nationally known musician and TV personality, Unnsteinn Manuel Stefánsson and Hermigervill set the tone for the annual event managed by KLAK - Icelandic Startups, Prosecco & Pitch, in the Gróska ideoghus in the business accelerator Hringiðu. The nine start-ups participating in Hringiða this year presented their projects, while Jenna Björk Guðmundsdóttir, project manager of Hringiða, opened the event, welcomed everyone to the great joy of those present and toasted the start-ups in front of more than 120 people.
Guðlaugur Þór Þórðarson, Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate addressed the entrepreneurs, startups and guests and encouraged the participants in Hringiða to continue on their journey. There was a lot of excitement and the anticipation was palpable as the one-minute presentations of the participants began. Arctic Fibers, Circula, Ekkó, Flöff - textilvinnsnarn, Í djúrum, Ró, SeaGrowth, Velja and Visttorg have worked hard to get their solutions, which really solve the environmental issues at hand, in good order.
"The Icelandic startup scene had a lot of fun and filled the space in front of Gróska's famous green wall. We think over 120 people turned up to have a prosecco before the Easter break and see the participants give one minute presentations. I am very happy with how it turned out, but apart from the sports presentations, it was inspiring and fun to listen to Minister Guðlaug Þór Þórðarson.
We especially thank the sponsors and partners, because without their involvement it would not be possible to run a business accelerator like Hringiðu. We look forward to continued cooperation in the coming weeks in Hringiða, but Hringiða's investor day is May 2." says Jenna Björk Guðmundsdóttir, Hringiða's project manager.
The Hringiða accelerator, which is run for the fourth time this year, is managed by KLAK - Icelandic Startups, which for many years has provided assistance in the development of business ideas and brought together a group of business partners with value creation as a guiding principle. Hringiða's sponsors are the City of Reykjavík, the Ministry of the Environment, Energy and Climate, Orkuveitan, Faxaflóhafnir, Terra, Ölgerðin and Samtok industriens. Hringiða's partners are Hringrásarklassinn, Rannís, Breið utväkksfélag, Evris, Sjávarklassinn, Orkuklassinn, F6S, Hugverkastofa and Grænvangur.
