Gróska buzzed with energy at the first Gulleggið 2027 company visit!

Students flocked to Gróska on Friday, 16 October, when KLAK hosted the Vísindaferð Gulleggsins. The venue buzzed with energy, innovation and good spirits as students had the chance to get to know companies, take part in an ideas competition and enjoy a varied programme.

The Vísindaferð ran from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, transforming Gróska into a buzzing hub of innovation and fun. The first guests to arrive received gift bags with treats from Gulleggið’s sponsors before the programme began in a hall full of enthusiastic university students.

The evening opened with brief introductions from Ásta Sóllilja, Managing Director of KLAK, and Anna, Project Manager of Gulleggið. Urður Hafþórsdóttir and Aron Ás Kjartansson then introduced KPMG and its work, while Margeir Haraldsson Arndal, co-founder of the startup IORDEN, shared the company’s journey since taking part in Gulleggið in 2026.

Registration then opened for Gulleggið 2027 – Iceland’s largest entrepreneurship competition!

Innovation, ideas and fun across three floors

The presentations were followed by a varied programme of activities throughout Gróska. On the ground floor, sponsors and partners had set up stands where students could learn about their work, ask questions and make valuable connections with the business community.

Students could meet representatives from Orkusalan, Crowberry Capital, KPMG, Brunnur Ventures, Landsbankinn, the Icelandic Intellectual Property Office, Sproti (Reykjavík University’s innovation committee) and KLAK – Icelandic Startups.

One of the evening’s highlights was the ideas competition hosted by KLAK and Landsbankinn, giving students a chance to let their ideas shine. At the end of the evening, one idea was selected to receive a fantastic prize: 50,000 Aukakrónur, courtesy of Landsbankinn. The winner was María Dís Gústafsdóttir, whose idea was a piece of jewellery featuring an emergency button that sounds an alarm and sends the wearer’s location to the police.

On Gróska’s lowest floor, Sproti, Reykjavík University’s innovation committee, kept the fun going. Guests could try their hand at beer pong, spin a prize wheel and take part in a darts competition. Those looking for a more relaxed atmosphere could head to a cosy lounge on the second floor to chat and enjoy refreshments in good company.

A musical performance rounded off a fantastic evening

There was music, too! The evening wrapped up with an energetic performance by UB and Tatjana, who made sure guests left Gróska in high spirits.

Vísindaferð Gulleggsins was a great opportunity to bring together students, businesses and Iceland’s innovation community. The evening showcased the energy and enthusiasm of the next generation of entrepreneurs.

KLAK warmly thanks all guests, sponsors and partners for taking part and making the evening so memorable. We look forward to seeing the ideas and opportunities that grow from the connections made!
