Health technology startups celebrated at Harpa

Last week, the KLAK health accelerator concluded with a grand investor event in Harpa. Ten strong startup teams presented their health technology projects to a diverse group of investors, representatives from the healthcare industry and other guests. Minister of Health Alma Möller opened the event and said on that occasion:

"The Ministry of Health is a proud sponsor of this ambitious project because innovation in the field of health technology is not an afterthought in healthcare, it is one of the pillars on which the future of our system rests," he added.

„"With the support of the ministry, the goal is clear: to create a fertile environment for the development and implementation of solutions that are directly useful in the daily work of the healthcare service and an environment where entrepreneurs, professionals, investors and public institutions talk to each other not just in meetings but in live collaboration"”

This is the first time that KLAK has offered a business accelerator with a special focus on health technology. The accelerator's goal is to strengthen the Icelandic health technology ecosystem, support entrepreneurs, and encourage innovation in the healthcare sector.

The project is funded by a strong group of sponsors, including leading Icelandic health technology companies and institutions in the healthcare sector, who also support the accelerator professionally by nominating experts to the accelerator's mentor group.

The teams that presented their projects were (in alphabetical order):

  • Careflux
  • BioForge
  • Guide2Care
  • LifeTrack
  • Medvit Health
  • My Journey
  • Mitoflux
  • Rekovy
  • Rewire AI
  • Be a Consultant

The teams are working on diverse solutions spanning a wide range of fields, from digital healthcare and drug development to public health solutions and medical devices. Some of the companies have already launched products, while others are taking their first steps.

During the accelerator, the teams received specialized training, guidance from experienced mentors, training in presentation and sales skills, and connections with key players in the healthcare industry. This support has enabled them to develop a clear business plan and present their projects to investors and partners.

The accelerator's sponsors are Ministry of Health, Landspítali, Kerecis, Íslandsbanki, Helix Health, Össur, Nox Medical, Veritas and Lifa Ventures.
