Hringiðu Lunch 2026: Seven green shoots present their vision for the future at Reykjavík City Hall

On Wednesday, April 15th, the Hringiðu Luncheon took place at Reykjavík City Hall, where seven startups participating in Hringiðu presented their solutions publicly for the first time since the accelerator began. A large number of guests attended and had the opportunity to learn about the startups' vision while enjoying a delicious lunch in the heart of the capital.

Alexandra Briem, Chair of the Reykjavík City Council, opened the event and spoke about the importance of the city supporting innovation and green solutions. The City of Reykjavík has been a supporter of Hringiðu from the beginning and the city's collaboration with KLAK has been a key factor in making the accelerator a reality.

The seven teams are still in the early stages and have only been in the accelerator for two weeks out of six. They presented their projects through micro-presentations and attracted attention with a variety of solutions that contribute to sustainability and environmental protection.

The teams are:

  • Araxeni, which produces bioengineered spider silk instead of plastic;
  • E-LISA, a software solution that optimizes energy production in geothermal development;
  • JORDAN, an automated quality manager for food manufacturers;
  • Loopable, which shreds waste textiles and turns them into high-quality knitting yarn;
  • Navigation tag, a QR code system that connects owners and finders of lost items;
  • Soil Lagoon, which is planning Iceland's first soil treatment plant
  • Thermal Beets Records, which produces sustainable vinyl records from sugar beets instead of PVC plastic.
