In the near future, KLAK - Icelandic startups will conquer the ring road and hold a promotional tour of its activities with a special focus on the entrepreneurial competition Gulleggið and the business accelerator Startup Tourism, which has been revived after a 5-year hiatus. KLAK's project managers, Kolfinna Kristínardóttir, Jenna Björk Guðmundsdóttir and Ísey Dísa Hávarsdóttir will hold promotional events around the country.
We encourage all interested parties to attend an event in their hometown, enjoy light refreshments and learn about opportunities in a supportive environment for innovation.
Startup Tourism is a five-week business accelerator whose aim is to encourage innovation and technological advancement in tourism, strengthen the foundations of new companies, increase the number of recreational opportunities and promote the distribution of tourists from around the country, all year round. Special emphasis is placed on making it easier for people from all over the country to participate, and the presentation tour is one part of that. The speedway consists of five two-day sessions that either take place online or at Gróska in Reykjavík, but flights and accommodation will be subsidized for the teams coming from the countryside.
Gulleggið is the biggest entrepreneurial competition in Iceland and has been held by KLAK - Icelandic Startups since 2008. The competition is specially designed for innovation at the idea level. The golden egg is open to everyone, it is also open to those who have no idea.
The Universities' Idea Sprint will be held for the first time on the weekend of 4-5. January It is an event open to all university students in the country and is an opportunity to find a team and thereby create an innovative idea within a strong supportive environment - which can then be submitted to Gullegg's Masterclass. Masterclass is an open course in innovation and entrepreneurship studies. The course will be live streamed in Akureyri and a representative from KLAK will be there to help, for example with setting up the presentation of an idea that can be sent to the competition.
The purpose of the trip is to encourage innovation, educate and inform about what is available for those who have put their ideas to rest, whether it is within the tourism industry or in other sectors.
