Héðinn is the new sponsor of Gullegg, Iceland's largest entrepreneurial competition. Daníel Freyr Hjartarson, Héðin's head of innovation and development, and Ásta Sóllilja Guðmundsdóttir, managing director of KLAK - Icelandic Startups, recently signed a partnership agreement.
At the signing of the contract, Daníel Frey was quoted as saying:Gulleggið is one of the most important ideas competitions in Iceland, and we are particularly proud to be able to support this cool project. Hédinn is a more than 100-year-old company, so we know the importance of being able to develop with the times and adapt to the latest technology and science. This is a great opportunity to continue supporting Icelandic innovation and we look forward to sharing our experience and knowledge with entrepreneurs all over the country.”.
Every year, hundreds of business ideas are submitted to the competition, and the motivation for this has come from all parts of society, but especially sponsors who have supported the start-up community in one way or another throughout the years. Everyone can become an entrepreneur, but participation in Gulleggin has been one of the most popular ways to enter the start-up environment, where the first steps are taken. Support for budding entrepreneurs is important, and for the last 16 years the sponsors of Gullegg have welcomed all entrepreneurs with open arms and supported those who want to present their ideas.
"We are very happy that a long-established company like Héðinn, which is based on long experience and deep knowledge of the metal industry and various types of technology, is ready to support Iceland's freshest start-up ideas. The collaboration will undoubtedly inspire many entrepreneurs.” says Ásta Sóllilja Guðmundsdóttir, manager of KLAK – Icelandic Startups.
