Ásta Sóllilja is the new CEO of KLAK

Ásta Sóllilja, manager of Klak - Icelandic Startups

Ásta Sóllilja Guðmundsdóttir has been appointed managing director of Klak - Icelandic Startups and she takes over from Kristína Soffía Jónsdóttir, who currently works at Leitar Capital Partners.

Ásta has an MBA from the University of Reykjavík, a diploma in management from Harvard University as well as a master's degree in health sciences and a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Iceland. She previously worked as a business development manager at Audna Technology Square and has extensive experience in business development and innovation, including through a board seat in various start-up companies. Ásta was previously the financial director of Volta ehf and also worked in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sector, including for Actavis and Icelandic genetic analysis, and worked on business development in tourism.

Klak is the main supporter of innovation in Iceland and runs the annual business accelerators Hringiða and Startup SuperNova, the Gullegg entrepreneurship competition, as well as offering workshops and mentoring services for beneficiaries of the Technology Development Fund.
