The Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate is the new sponsor of Gullegg

The Ministry of the Environment, Energy and Climate is the new sponsor of Gulleggin, but Guðlaugur Þór Þórðarson, Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate, and Ásta Sóllilja Guðmundsdóttir, managing director of KLAK – Icelandic Startups, signed a three-year agreement on the ministry's participation as a sponsor of Gulleggin.

"To achieve our environmental goals, we must use our main resource, ingenuity. The Ministry of the Environment, Energy and Climate proposes that innovation, research and development play a key role in the transition to a circular economy, and the Ministry's approach to Gulleggin is part of strengthening entrepreneurs for good deeds," Guðlaug Þór Þórðarson, Environment, Energy - and climate minister. 

Gulleggið, which has been held by KLAK - Icelandic Startups for many years, has established itself as one of the most popular entrepreneurial competitions in Iceland and has given many entrepreneurs a head start and a good way into the innovation environment in Iceland. A number of companies have gone through Gulleggi, including Controlant, Taktikal, Meniga, PayAnalytics and Atmonia.

"It is very gratifying to have the Ministry of the Environment, Energy and Climate as a new sponsor of Gullegg. The collaboration will undoubtedly increase awareness of the importance of the circular economy among the contestants in Iceland's largest entrepreneurship competition. The ministry's involvement will be an important incentive for creators of ideas who want to pursue new goals and take advantage of the opportunities that arise in competitions such as Gullegginu. We look forward to the cooperation." Says Ásta Sóllilja Guðmundsdóttir, manager of KLAK - Icelandic Startups.
