KLAK – Icelandic Startups has hired Álfrún Perla Baldursdóttir as an international representative and project manager, and she will start work at the beginning of August.
Álfrún comes to KLAK with extensive experience in international cooperation, project management and policy development, as well as a strong connection to the innovation and entrepreneurial environment in Iceland. She is a political scientist by training, having studied conflict studies at LSE and disarmament and negotiation techniques at Harvard University. She has worked for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NATO and the Institute of International Affairs of the University of Iceland, where she was involved in, among other things, building a partnership with MIT and developing the innovation accelerator Smart Wisdom.
In recent years, Álfrún has worked on international projects in the fields of defense, innovation and cooperation between states and institutions, including within NATO and in collaboration with the Nordic countries and the United States. She also has experience in running her own companies. She founded the family business Hellanna in Hella and runs Jólaálfinn. She therefore has good insight into the challenges and opportunities of entrepreneurs and start-ups.
In her work at KLAK, Álfrún will lead and develop international collaboration, support connections between Icelandic startups and foreign markets, and work on developing projects that strengthen the Icelandic innovation environment internationally.
